RTHReviews : Pig

RTHReviews : Pig

Pig might seem basic at first, all your assumptions take over telling you that this is going to be a straightforward film like always.

But, Pig is not that. The film Pig is beautiful, with layers underneath which you need to look closely to understand… Moreover, it’s not at all what you’d expect. And not expect in a negative way, but on the contrary, blowing your mind, that they’d go in such a direction.

Here’s the official synopsis, “Living alone in the Oregon wilderness, a truffle hunter returns to Portland to find the person who stole his beloved pig.”

Nicolas Cage is simply fabulous in the film, he’s legendary and this film is another example of that. He keeps you constantly invested in the character, whilst also trying to give you a glimpse of life outside of the film, and that was a good one to watch.

Patrick Scola with the cinematography and Michael Sarnoski with his direction and writing have delivered quite wonderfully, the cinematography in particular speaks quite a lot about the tone of the film and what its trying to state, that’s another aspect to look out for in this film.

Lastly, if you’re able to catch the main aspects (the learnings) which make the film what it is (which we aren’t going into, because spoilers), then you’d truly enjoy this film.

One Line Review: Nicolas Cage is back!
