Why vs Why Not

Why vs Why Not

In life we walk on three paths – when we ask why am I doing this? Or why not?

The third path is one very rarely walked upon, the thin line between the two, when you ask both the questions and you’re stuck hanging in between.

There are certain things you do, or you want to do, to which every obstacle that comes along, internal or external, you ask yourself why not? And you keep on crossing such obstacles, whilst doing that certain something.

On the other hand, in a similar scenario, you ask why am I even doing this? You start searching for answers, start going deeper into this quest and you figure out there’s no point to it. There’s nothing wrong in not doing it, if it doesn’t serve any purpose at all.

But, the thin line between the two is the most confusing one, when you ask why not and you also ask why? You ask why not and make your mind and start pursuing it. But you also ask why, and see that there’s no meaning or purpose to it and you’re just doing it for the heck of it.

That thin line is when your values, your beliefs, your mindset come into the picture and based on all of that, you must choose a side. Because these are two paths and you have to be on the either side of it and fortunately or unfortunately, you can’t not choose either.

So, which one do you choose – why or why not?

Efforts are never wasted!

Efforts are never wasted!

What if you put in your efforts towards something and it doesn’t pan out to your expected outcome?

Are the efforts then wasted?

Should you not have done it in the first place?

Such and more questions do arise in one’s mind when you don’t get your desired outcome.

At such times, quite often, one may feel low and disappointed.

However, should one feel so?

Are the efforts really wasted?

The first thing that you should ask yourself is, did you really go all in with your efforts?

If yes, if you did try your all, and even if it didn’t work out, well…

There are two things to know here –

A. Now you know more than before about the process and the mistakes you made, so your second try will be even better.

B. Every thing you learnt here, the process, the mistakes, the outcome, the emotions – all of it will come to use somewhere else, where you’ll be glad you went through this process the first time.

Any and all efforts are never wasted, it’s just that they may have not come to fruition just then.

When you walk on that certain selected path, one, you have chosen to be in this lane, you’re aware of it, you’ve the knowledge of it. It’s your strength. Anything which is a strength is good for you.

Second, you are able to keep improving in your field because you understand the level of knowledge you have and how much more you have to learn.

You also become known by walking in that lane, when you share your opinions and observations about that path, people want to know more and want to learn more.

There’s only advantage for you when you walk in your lane, but the key is to identify that lane first.

That lane is not what the society tells you to walk on, or what your family tells you, that lane is a path where you’re comfortable walking on, where you enjoying walking, so much so that you can walk, jog or sprint too, you decide the pace.

However, the bottom line to excel/ succeed is to stay in your lane and then get better at it.
