Just Write Something

Just Write Something

Whether in the form of

– documenting your thoughts,

– documenting your day,

– sharing a piece of content,

– expressing your gratitude or in the form of affirmations in a journal,

Every individual should just write something.

When you write, it not only helps you instilling that same thing within you, but it also helps you give you a deeper perspective to what you think or rather who you are.

When you write, it helps you clear your mind, it helps you understand things better, it helps you see yourself in a third person perspective.

When the benefits outweigh the negatives, then there is some form of an advantage to try something out, to experiment with it and to see how it personally benefits you.

Why don’t you just write something, anything, and see how it makes you feel?

Accepting your Loss

Accepting your Loss

Life is a balance of wins and losses. Either or isn’t even a choice. Sometimes you win at something, and sometimes you lose at something.

But, our society has created this narrative where everyone must win. At all costs. Irrespective of how you win. That’s the mentality that has been set.

And with a win put on such a pedestal, imagine how a loss is treated as! An individual is considered a failure if they lose at one small thing, they are made to feel as if they have lost at life.

Moreover, simply shutting down that noise and mindset for a second, when that individual just accepts their loss for what it is, then they’re free of the burden of it.

Accepting any kind of loss, in whatever form, in any sector of life, you understand that its okay to lose at something, you understand the mistakes and the lessons learnt from it.

You then develop a mindset where you understand the balance of life, you try more things because you feel free to lose as well. You shatter the structures on which the society is built, and live a life which is balanced with wins and losses, no matter how small or big.

A day without learning

A day without learning

For someone who is obsessed with learning,

To learn, not particularly academically, but any form of learning, especially with the amount of content available on the internet, via audio, video or text, one can learn anything and anywhere, whatever topic they’re interested in.

Not obsessed per se, but who particularly looks back at the end of the day and notices what they’ve learnt, what are the takeaways from those learnings,

For someone like that, a day without learning is noticeable like a snap of a finger.

What if the day goes by and you didn’t get the time to learn something new and add something to your reservoir of knowledge?

But can a day really go without learning?

There could have been an experience with something, a conversation with someone, a thought in your head, that made you think… That made you ideate more… That was something new to learn.

Can a day really go by without learning, if you are really looking forward to learning something new?

Filling the Silence

Filling the Silence

In order to escape the mind, we fill the silence with

– talking (more than usual)

– music (contextual) and/or consuming content in general

– activities that you don’t want to do

(or anything else that one might do to fill their silence)

Why do we do it though?

It’s only when we are scared of that silence. The deepest questions that you don’t think of lie in that silence. The answers you avoid lie in that silence. The truths you run away from lie in that silence.

Silence speaks volumes.

And that is why we run away from it. Because we don’t want to face it. That’s why we escape. Its feels better to escape your reality than to face it.

Facing it means to take action, to pause and look back, to accept your mistakes, to change your tomorrow, that requires change in thoughts and actions and that’s a lot of efforts.

Instead, we avoid the silence.

// i write about how to embrace this silence here.

What you Eat

What you Eat

Right from what we eat to when we eat and how much we eat is something that’s either followed by tradition or media manipulation.

Tradition involves ancient, timeless wisdom, foods that come from mother earth, which benefit the mind, body, and soul.

Media manipulation involves stories that melt your heart, advertising that creates cravings and scientific experiments that make the food pop in your mouth.

But, that’s not all. An understanding of food is something that everyone needs to have, in order to have a good today and a good tomorrow.

What we eat affects your

– gut

– inflammation in the body

– immune system

– cells in the body

– energy levels

– emotions

– body alkalinity

When we understand how a certain food item affects your body, you automatically feel the need to remove it from your system, irrespective of how it tastes and how long you’ve been eating it for.

Also, note how I haven’t referred to body weight in the points above, as that is an outcome of irregularities in the above points.

You eat the right way to maintain your gut health, to keep your body alkaline and keep your body inflammation in check, to keep your immune system strong.

Losing weight is a by-product of a good lifestyle, which also allows to eat all the good things, without compromising on anything.

Personal before Professional

Personal before Professional

We have been taught to always focus on our careers, on our professional side of life, the side that earns money and is able to buy things.

We are always chasing growth in that sector of life, trying to accomplishing our work goals.

Sometimes, we even make those work goals, our life goals, because we don’t know the difference.

That is how the system works, how the society works, no one questioned it, everyone just did the same thing, but in different ways.

Chasing professional goals is not wrong at all, it gives you motivation to do something but when it comes at the cost of personal growth, then it creates a problem.

When you are not in control of yourself, is when problems appear elsewhere in your life.

When you don’t know how to emotionally react, is when you hinder your exterior relationships as well as your relationship with yourself.

When you don’t know how your own voice in the head has come from, how will you separate yourself from what the society and their judgements say.

Personal comes before Professional.

Personal growth, first, focus on yourself first or simultaneously, and then let that impact every other area of your life.

Professional growth will create exterior success, but won’t affect personal growth. On the contrary, personal growth will create professional growth + inner success + inner peace + satisfaction.

I can’t tell you, it’s a secret!

I can’t tell you, it’s a secret!

How many times have you not shared something because you thought it should be hidden?

Because you thought only you should know it.

Because you thought if others find out, then it won’t be exclusive to you.

This is not just about “start-up ideas” or your goals with life.

This can also be about the thoughts you have, the answers you have to someone’s problems, the knowledge to help out someone else.

“I can’t tell you, it’s a secret” is usually the response in most people’s mind, if not said out loud.

However, the more you share, the more you receive.

The more you give, the more you’re able to learn as well. When you share your secrets, you get to improve and evolve to newer thoughts, better answers and more satisfaction than before.

Earlier, with keeping what you already knew, you thought this is it, this is the answer that I should keep to myself.

But, by not keeping it a secret, you allowed yourself to understand that there’s more to it than that, and now you can walk the path of the unknown where you learn more and improve faster than before.

And that happens when you reveal your secrets, when you share what you know.

Ultimately, in this process, you also get to help someone out there, and make it easier for them as well.

Empathy is the answer!

Empathy is the answer!

When you’re able to empathise with another person,
their perspective,
their situation,
their problems

you not only broaden your relationship with the people around you;

But you also open your mind to more possibilities and more opportunities.

And that helps you win not only in your personal life but your professional life as well.

Empathy is always the answer.

Lockdown Learnings

Lockdown Learnings

Over the past year or so, one of my main intentions has been to work on my habits, to introduce new ones, to evolve them over time and to get rid of the ones that don’t serve me any purpose.

Amongst many that literally changed me, this lock-down period allowed me to work on a few more that have been on my mind for a while or some that I didn’t think would be essential to me.

Here are some that I’ve been working on and constantly trying to improve them:

1. Daily Meditations

It allowed me to align my mind and my body, it made me more calmer, more peaceful, to let go of things, every time it’s a different experience.

2. Gadget-free Meals

To have meals without having the phone or laptop around you, without having to watch anything while eating. It first started with lunch and now dinner too, teaching me to be more mindful during meals.

3. Yoga

Whether its the suryanamaskars or some other asanas, the lockdown taught me that you can do so much without even going out. The daily growing experience and the impact on the body is immense.

4. Breath-work

The breathing exercises helps me in releasing more energy in the body, influences the blood circulation, thereby increasing the alkalinity and reducing the acidity in the body, plus changing various physiological responses

5. Cleanliness

Whether its the brooming and wiping, or the sanitisation of the items brought from outside, or the occasional cleaning of utensils and dusting, this time has made me more aware of cleanliness than ever.

Constant Learning

Constant Learning

Our learning doesn’t end at schools and colleges, on the contrary, its never-ending.

Whether it’s a conscious choice or not, one is constantly learning, in some form or the other, everyday.

Consciously, the learning could be in the form of audio, video or text consumption or through conversations or when you walk on uncharted territory.

Subconsciously, learning happens through mistakes or through experiences – in your personal and professional lives.

Nonetheless, the bottom line is one is constantly learning everyday.

Whether by choice or not.

P. S. By choice is always better because you get to control and upgrade yourself on your own terms, rather through things happening in your life which aren’t in your control at all.

This learning, of all kinds, leads to growth in your life. The growth which leads to a different version of yours than before.

Whether a better version or not, depends on your perspective.

Do what you feel needs to be done!

Do what you feel needs to be done!

Sometimes you have something on your mind that you want to do

Could be a small task or a hobby you want to pursue or a goal you want to achieve… A career path you want to change… Can be anything

Although sometimes you worry!

Worry about what others will think!

Worry about what others will say!

Sometimes it’s the worry when people around you tell you to do something, which you don’t want to do in the first place

However…

At the risk of all these before and after scenarios, we can do only one thing!

Do what you feel that needs to be done!

As simple as that!

Without worrying about the pre and post scenarios of that something, especially with regards to others.

Life is about experimentations!

Life is about experimentations!

Life is about experimentations, from one thing to another, whether you know it or not, it’s all about experimentations!

You never know what will work and what will not, you never know what might interest you and what might not.

There’s never a pre-defined answer for anything, there’s only a pre-conceived notion which is cleared after you experiment and find the answer on your own.

With life, you can never just stick with one thing – you might agree, it gets boring. Experimenting to find out new things, to grow, to evolve is the only solution.

#KeepExperimenting

The journey or the destination?

The journey or the destination?

When you focus on the road ahead, the journey always seems longer than usual. Your mind is filled with doubts and you tend to question your steps.

On the other hand, when you focus on how far you’ve come from before, it fills you with positivity and optimism, you see it as a stepping stone.

That’s what the life’s journey is about – you always go forward – you want to rise higher than before – be better than before – and it’s a step by step process.

Everytime you tend to realize how far you’ve come, but when you think of the future and how unpredictable it is, it makes you anxious though.

“Always focus on how far you’ve come, not how far you have to go.”

What do I mean by ‘Becoming a better version of yourself’?

What do I mean by ‘Becoming a better version of yourself’?

To become a better version of yourself means you have to grow/ you have to level up – and, for that to happen, you need to change / you need to learn / you need to have a growth mindset.

If you think you know it all, if you think you don’t have to learn anything anymore, if you have a fixed mindset, then how do you think you’re going to reach the next level of your life.

The concept is simple, the process is everlasting, however, you come out of it as a better person everytime!

Quite honestly, that should be the daily goal and we’re setting that for ourselves, not for anyone else, because only we are going to benefit from that mentality. #ActOnIt

The Power of Reading

The Power of Reading

Education is limited, and knowledge is limitless!

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin

To keep evolving,

to learn new things,

to expand your current knowledge base,

to develop in different unknown sectors,

Reading is the answer.

Books/ Case Studies/ Articles/ Blogs all come under reading, wherever you get to learn something valuable.

From all the advantages of reading, here are a few that I’ve noticed:
1. Increases concentration and productivity
2. Enhances creativity
3. Changes your perspective
4. Learning new things (that’s obvious though)
5. Developing your knowledge base

“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn

Changing your Attitude

Changing your Attitude

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change their future by merely changing their attitude.” – Oprah Winfrey

Once people understand this, then they can make wonders happen for themselves!

What you think is what you become!

Your attitude towards yourself, your work, your goals, your relationships define your present and your future.

If your present is not what you want, you have the opportunity to make your future better! How? By changing yourself – by changing your attitude towards everything – by changing your perspective!

It takes time – it needs practice – you make mistakes – but that’s the process with everything, isn’t it?

So not why take the matter into your own hands and write your own future?

#LiveTheZazzLife

Levelling up to a new perspective!

Levelling up to a new perspective!

“The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.” – Muhammad Ali

What does that mean?

Well, for one, when you grow and when you keep bettering yourself, you also grow a new perspective to everything.

You start looking at things differently, you have a different viewpoint to everything than you did before.

However, it happens when you keep upgrading to a better version of yourself.

That also comes from a growth mindset.

You constantly want to level up, be a better person than before, do things better than before.

In due process, you are evolving and every day, every month and every year of your life is different than before.

If you don’t find that change, then most probably, you are standing in the same place you already were, in the same level of your life, and possibly, without any growth. That’s the fixed mentality, where you’re afraid to move on and want to be where you are forever.

“Circumstances didn’t allow me to…”

“Circumstances didn’t allow me to…”

“I wanted to, but the circumstances didn’t allow me to…”

Isn’t it easier to blame everything on circumstances?

We all do it.

It’s more difficult to not let exterior events or actions hinder our progress and not let it stop from achieving what we set out to do.

The opposite is easier.

Well, the tough minds who do achieve, never blame anything or never even think of it.

Once they have the target in mind, they’ll achieve it or try achieving it, no matter what!

The mindset is important – if you want to do, then do and not let anything stop you.

What do you want to do?

Change can happen Now

Change can happen Now

Change is the only constant in life.

Change can happen anytime you want it to happen.

Change can happen Now.

The question is, are you willing to change?

Introducing change in your life first requires you to admit that you need that change. Acceptance is a must.

Then, to implement it as a part of your lifestyle, you cannot say, I’ve changed today. The right answer is The path towards change starts today, the process is long, but I’ll keep at it and make sure the outcome is different from what it currently is.

What needs to be changed?

That is up to you to decide. Ponder over your life, where are you lacking, what needs to be different, what is it that you are not able to get, focus on that.

Stroke of Luck

Stroke of Luck

All of us have our journeys, our goals, our path on which we are currently walking! There’s something on our minds that we want to achieve – either an accomplishment of a task or checking off a goal.

Although, when things don’t work out, we are disappointed, we are in deep thoughts of the reasons why it didn’t work out, we ponder over our decisions and if we could do it all over again!

However, what if life had other plans for us? What if that path wasn’t the right one for you? What if things not working out was a stroke of luck?

That is what Dalai Lama said, “Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.”

Of course, you can’t sit around and think of the ‘What Ifs’, but you can have a positive perspective over life that maybe things didn’t work out for the right reasons and maybe you need to walk another path to reach where you want to be.

To clarify, you might know your true calling but the path you thought was right may not have been the right one, which is why things didn’t work out the way you expected them to; and now it’s time to revisit that and think how you could do it differently!

What Songs Taught Us #6 – Wake Me Up

What Songs Taught Us #6 – Wake Me Up

• What Songs Taught Us #6 – Wake Me Up •

Song In Focus : Wake Me Up
Artist : Avicii

The song, Wake Me Up, an Avicii classic is a beautiful rendition of a young, inexperienced soul wanting to live a happy life, wanting to just start, wanting to experience the journey, not caring about how the journey will end.

The young soul was living his dreams, not knowing he was lost, as told by the people around him, who persisted to take the safe path, to do safe things and not wander around.

People around him say that he is inexperienced, that there is a difference between life and dreams, that life will pass him by, filled with regrets of not settling down.

And the young, inexperienced soul wanting to live his dreams is fine by it, he is ready to take the chance, because in the end, he’s happy with the decisions he’s taking, and he wants to experience the life as is.
